The first letter I received from the Collingwood Rotary Club, Rotarian J. Cockerill, was July 14, 1983, asking if I would be interested in starting a Rotary Club in Wasaga Beach. On October 21, 1983 the Collingwood Rotary President, Dave Christie, agreed to support the proposal of the extension of a Rotary Club in to Wasaga Beach and area. At the first meeting it was an unanimous decision from all members. Karl Fuhre Sr., a Charter Member of the Collingwood Rotary Club, was willing to spearhead this very worthwhile project. The time and place chosen for the weekly meetings was Monday at 12:15 pm at the Waldhorn Hotel, Wasaga Beach.
